I hate to do this, but I feel compelled to interrupt our high-minded conversations about art and evil and good and God in order to talk politics.
One of my less attractive qualities is that I find corruption funny. I know it does great harm. I know it deforms the souls of those who participate in it. But when I consider what mankind was made to be, and when I see what it so often is, it’s like watching a man in a tuxedo fall into a mud puddle. It’s slapstick. It’s hilarious.
So there’s something uproarious to me about CNN’s Jake Tapper publishing a book lamenting how America was deceived about former president Joe Biden’s dementia — a deception he helped perpetrate. As so often, the Babylon Bee summed it up nicely: “Jake Tapper Uncovers Startling Evidence That Biden’s Decline Was Covered Up By Jake Tapper.”
And just as the book was about to be released, the Biden family announced that Biden is also suffering from cancer, which many doctors conjecture was covered up too. I can’t comment on that. But it certainly does seem the announcement was corruptly timed to distract us from Jake Tapper, as he tries to wash the corruption off his face by soaking it in the corruption of others. It's a big corruption circus.
But as large as this scandal is, as elaborate and widespread as the cover up is — with the Democrats and media collaborating to hide from the American public a truth the American public could see right in front of their eyes — the fact is: the cover-up is itself a cover-up. The scandal masks a far bigger scandal.
Because the government and media didn’t cover up and lie about Biden’s sickness and dementia. They covered up and lied about everything. They’re only talking about the Biden cover-up because they got caught at it, because it’s irrefutable.
They lied about Trump colluding with the Russians, they covered up Hillary Clinton’s role in the lie, they lied about Trump saying there were “good people” among white supremacists, they covered up the violence of the George Floyd riots, they lied about the covid vaccine, they covered up the China leak, they covered up the unjust persecution of Donald Trump, they called the sexual butchery of children “gender affirming care,” also a lie.
I could go on for pages and pages. Lying and covering up is what these people do. Which is one thing in a politician. Lies are always part of politics. But we look to journalists to ferret out the truth, and they abandoned their posts, betrayed their responsibilities, and sold the American people into censorship and nascent authoritarianism in the name of a socialist ideology that is itself a lie.
We’ve been thinking about art and evil, good and God. Would that Jake Tapper and all his ilk would start thinking about these things too, until they learn to see themselves as they truly are, and repent in ashes.
Love, Dad
“Would that Jake Tapper and all his ilk would start thinking about these things too, until they learn to see themselves as they truly are, and repent in ashes.”
Thank you for ending this piece with this prayer for Jake Tapper and his ilk. It’s hard for me not to loose sight of the humanity of these people who seem to lie so easily. “Have mercy on me, and on the whole world”
Keep up the good work Andrew. Your emphasis on culture over politics is greatly needed in the overall healing of the country.
I’ve been saying this for years: we no longer have a free press. A free press is the watchdog of government, not the watchdog of the Republican Party.
The combination of a democrat hive-mind and a captured press is what brought us to the brink of destruction. If either was free-thinking, we would have never been there. And I’m certainly thankful that the alternative media became more mainstream than the MSM in recent years. It, and Donald Trump’s tenacity, are the only reasons we came back from the brink.
A free nation cannot remain free without a truly free press.
