Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind.

To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy,

is to have the real spirit of Christmas.

– Calvin Coolidge

May Christ’s blessings and that of the Holy Family descend upon you and your families this Christmas and at all other times. This is my wish for not just the Klavans but for all who have shared this ongoing conversation, and indeed for all. I have thoroughly enjoyed this exchange of essays. For me it allowed me to review and expand upon my beliefs (sometimes at excessive length—my great editor, my wife does not read them before I hit share). I am grateful for both of your efforts in this joint endeavor. I look forward to the next year, and will try to endure the upcoming dual-Klavanless holiday season!

Thank you, Andrew and Spencer, for sharing your precious thoughts, and showing us your love for God and for each other. I will miss your letters during your absence - I count on them for inspiration and comfort - but I wish you both a season of peace and hope. If I may quote the smallest Cratchit: "God bless us, every one!" Merry Christmas, All!

Thank you both for your efforts to share your wisdom with us here. As someone trying to write my own blog, your abilities to distill a message into a deeply thoughtful 2-5 minute essay continually surprises and inspires me. They have become part of my morning devotional reading to begin my day.

May you both have a beautiful and bright Christmas, and blessings abundantly in the new year.

I'm so grateful that I found The New Jerusalem, and became a paid subscriber. Thank you to you both for your entertaining, serious and deep introspection of all things faith and beyond. The fact that you mention what is to me the greatest little book in the world (A Christmas Carol), makes me even and ever happier. I look forward to 2025. Keep the faith! Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays to all!

You talked me into purchasing "Charles Dickens’ deathless A Christmas Carol" for the nieces and nephews.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. May your Substack continue to grow in leaps and bounds.

Thanks for a great year of insight and wondering. I joined Substack because of Drew and that’s been great fun. A very Merry Christmas to the Klavans and my fellow Substackians.
