We've had our purely religious age. We seem to have had the Enlightenment. I wonder if this is the final age of combining the two? I don't see what else is required by human beings. Once we have reconciled religion and science, aren't we at the end of history? Too apocalyptic?
Its (say) 1875. At that time based on what we knew though science a good argument could be made for Materialism. The problem is, as we have learned more and more about The universe and how it works, those Materialist arguments/views have gotten weaker and weaker. Until today I Really don't understand how people can make them.
I've come to 2 thoughts on the Why
1. Someone had a Bad experience with a follower of Judeo-Christian
I thought, between the book’s judges & Kings 1 & 2 , is the example of a roller coaster graph line if mapped out with care shows “good & proper righteousness relationship with God ” on the horizontal axis and “good times” on the vertical axis..
Would clearly show, “empirically” that the benefit’s received in the good times , (though the benefits in themselves are not the reason for seeking said “righteousness ” ) are the clear and present evidence in said data when one is “right” with God. That those darn “Jesus freaks” came along with the temerity to point it out, along with what the prophets kept saying . Hundreds of years after the event was really annoying , which in hindsight was unnecessary panty bunching.
And which shows that getting one’s ears waxed regularly and the cateracts lazered is a simple health plan for spiritual practice to boot . 👍
Matthew 13:17:
For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.
For it is those darn “Jesus freaks who offer a spiritual health plan far cheaper than anything a government can offer.
P.S. (this last bit is an ab ad-lib not Mathew, just for the record)

I doubt we’ll ever exhaust our potential, but I do think the new synthesis you describe is exactly what’s being called forth from us right now.

2. It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.

Peopl'ss selfishness will cause them to find things that do not have God in them...but God is there...in the laws of physics and all sciences
