The whole gospel is based on believing the unbelievable. This is why faith is the first principle - you don't taste the fruit until you have planted the seed and nurtured it. By their fruits you shall know them.
I need to read Woman Underground again. Like all really good books, your Cameron Winters books are richly layered and subsequent readings help mine those riches. On the first read I get very focused on the “who done it” part and I get so pulled into the story that I might as well just put on a deerstalker hat, pull out a pipe to smoke, and start talking to some random person on the street I’ll name Dr. Watson.

The stats may not be current, and I can provide footnotes for them if you like; but I'm pretty sure rates of depression, which have skyrocketed since Covid, haven't come down in Utah.
"A 2003 study entitled “Mormon Women, Prozac ® and Therapy” by LDS author Kent Ponder, Ph D., describes the pressures on LDS women; and a national study by Express Scripts Inc., a pharmacy benefits management company, found that “antidepressant drugs are prescribed in Utah more often than in any other state at a rate nearly twice the national average.” The reasons for this are not hard to understand: Imagine a culture in which women are supposed to participate fully in all LDS meetings, give birth to multiple children, maintain a two-year supply of food and supplies properly rotated, keep themselves cheerful and sexually attractive to their husbands, and perform temple ordinances --- all the while looking forward to an eternity of the same ramped up to the extreme: bearing children, this time entire populations of them, and co-managing planetary systems.
Nor is despair the exclusive province of women in the state of Utah, which is 70% Mormon. According to the Deseret Morning News, Utah leads the nation in suicides among men aged 15 to 24. While the LDS lifestyle is unquestionably comforting, ennobling, nurturing and communal to many, it has quite a different effect on other individuals."
Perhaps AI should go into the universe and build worlds for its creator so we can better understand ours , just perhaps that’s Gods plan all along in the making AI , to reveal more of His universe to us .
